In 1992 Japanese adventurer Shinji Kazama rode to the South Pole 3 January on a specially modified Yamaha motorcycle. Before that he had ridden to the North Pole in the 80's and had ridden 15,000 feet up Mount Everest. Sadly there is very little information about this intrepid fellow.
